Arcadia Sports Complex breaks ground

HOMEGROWN developer Escandor Development Corporation (Esdevco) marked another milestone with the groundbreaking of Arcadia Sports Complex, estimated to cost P150 million, last May 28 in Davao City.

Fr. ElvieBurdios was officiating priest of the event graced by top Esdevco executives led by president and CEO Glenn Escandor and his son Francis. Also present were designing team representative Architect James Magdadaro, project director Gerald Kent Garces and Angel Derla.

Garces said, "The groundbreaking of Arcadia is a commitment to develop all development components of Matina Enclaves."

He said it is expected to be finished May 2017.

"The construction will be done by phase. We will finish at least 80 percent of the structure before proceeding with the pool construction so that we can complete Arcadia with all its features and amenities on target," Garces added in text messages on Thursday, June 2.

Arcadia, eyed to be Davao City's next premier hub, is located just across Matina Enclaves, which is in Quimpo Boulevard, Matina near SM City Davao.

The three-storey 4,000-square meter Arcadia has proposed ample parking spaces, Olympic-sized 50-meter lapping pool and a kiddie pool, fitness gym, indoor wall climbing, reception area and lobby at the ground floor; wellness and spa rooms, sports bar, open fitness cafe and kiddie gymboree on the second floor; and an indoor standard wooden-floored basketball court on the third floor that can accommodate 350 spectators or host a convention with a seating capacity of 800.

Garces earlier said that Arcadia will be an amenity for the entire family to enjoy without having to go far.

AGM Consultants & Liza Crespo Ecotecture's perspective of the facility shows a unique, modern and stylish design that lives up to the high quality of products that the Esdevco Group of Companies is known for.

While the Clubhouse at Matina Enclaves (CAME) is solely for the use of its homeowners, the Arcadia is open to the public for a monthly membership fee that will have yet to be decided by Esdevco.

Conceptualizing Esdevco came easy what with Escandor, who has a reputable track record in leisure and hospitality through The Royal Mandaya Hotel, considered to be one of Davao City's landmarks, commercial and property development, retail and security services (Davao Security and Investigation Agency, Inc. or Dasia), is a basketball fanatic himself.

"Arcadia is more than just any regular gym we find here in Davao City," Garces added.
