BACOLOD City vice mayor-elect El Cid Familiaran said he will ask the incoming members of the City Council to hold a caucus once they assume their respective posts on June 30.
Familiaran, an outgoing councilor, said they need to discuss ahead the internal rules and committee chairmanships of the 28 committees to be filled up during the inaugural session on July 6.
The committees include Appropriation and Finance; Ways and Means; Public Works; Environment and Ecology; Markets and Slaughterhouse; Trade, Commerce and Industry; Education; History, Culture and Arts; Health and Sanitation; Family and Child Care and Development; Police, Security and Jail Management; Fire, Natural Disasters and Calamities; Laws, Ordinances and Good Government; Barangay Affairs; Youth, SK Affairs and Sports; Labor and Management Relations and Overseas Workers; Women and Gender; Senior Citizens and Veterans Affairs; Urban Poor, Housing and Resettlement; Transportation and Traffic; Communication and Energy; Cooperatives and Livelihood Programs; Human Rights; Human Resource Development; Government Assets; Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Concerns; Tourism and Local, National and International Cooperation; and Social Services and Development.
The council may also create special committees for specific purpose to automatically cease after submission of and action on their reports by the council. It shall be independent of other committees but may adopt the procedures.
There shall be a special committee to be chaired by the vice mayor to act as liaison between the council and the Mayor’s Office to be known as the Legislative/Executive Conference Liaison Committee. (CNC)
