ONE day before the June 8 deadline, only 20 national candidates have so far filed their Statements of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCEs), the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Tuesday.
Those who have submitted their respective SOCEs are three senatorial bets, two of them won in the May 9 polls, and 17 party-list groups.
Senator Panfilo Lacson and Senator Ralph Recto have submitted the documents.
Losing senatorial bet Alma Moreno has also complied with the law.
Based on their SOCE's, total contributions received by Lacson was P90,474,233.76, while his expenditures was at P87,935,535.91.
Total contributions for Recto amounted to P111,650,000 while his spending was at P131,867,403.89, while Moreno declared zero contributions and a spending of P134,233.03.
The partylist groups have already submitted SOCEs are the following: Abang Lingkod, Agap, All Fish, 1-Abilidad, Ang Kabuhayan, ABS, Angkla, Anakpawis, Kalinga, Senior Citizens, Marino, Anac-IP, Butil, 1-Sagip, MTM Phils, and Abono.
With this, lawyer Mazan Lutchavez-Vergara of the Comelec Campaign Finance Office said they expect candidates to submit their SOCEs at the poll body's main office in Manila on Wednesday, the deadline set by the poll body.
"Expect natin na tomorrow doon sila talaga dadagsa. So may pagasa pa later siguro ng hapon tingnan kung marami pa ring magpa-file," she said.
Vergara noted that there will be no extension in the submission of the SOCE.
“Hindi kami magbibigay ng extension kasi sa prior elections we had so many extensions and this time kailangan na talaga nating ipakita sa kanila strict na ang deadline natin para sumunod ang candidates sa kanilang obligations to file their SOCE," she added.
Comelec Resolution 9991 states that the SOCE must contain the list of each contribution received by the candidate or party; list of every expenditure made by the candidate or party; and a list of any unpaid obligation, its nature, and amount.
The document should have the full, true, and itemized statement of all contributions and expenditures of a candidate or political party in connection with the elections. (FP/Sunnex)
