463 Eastern Mindanao soldiers negative in drug test

NOT a single member of the Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) who underwent drug test conducted by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) was found positive for illegal drugs.

Eastmincom Public Information Office head Major Ezra Balagtey said none of the 463 Davao-based AFP personnel tested positive for illegal drugs after the Task Force Moses (TFM) of the AFP conducted a surprise drug test Monday.

Balagtey said the task force conducted drug test to officers and enlisted personnel including civilian employees of the Eastmincom after the regular flag-raising ceremony at the Naval Station Felix Apolinario in Panacan in Davao City.

"The drug testing is regularly conducted unannounced since 2011. This is in line with the effort of maintaining a highly disciplined personnel and in consonance with the objective of the AFP Transformation Roadmap," Balagtey said.

Balagtey said the task force claimed that the officers, enlisted personnel, and civilian employees under Eastmincom were negative of the metabolites and methamphetamine, known contents of illegal drugs.

He also said that the 463 personnel and the civilian employees are no longer subjected to confirmatory test after they yielded negative results for illegal drugs.

The AFP is serious in its campaign against illegal drugs, Balagtey added. (ICT)
