Guns of illegal drugs group in Bohol supplied by police?

INVESTIGATORS are looking into the possibility that the high-powered firearms seized from the group led by suspected drug peddler David Anunciado were supplied by the police or military.

Superintendent Romer Daguno, Central Visayas Regional Crime Laboratory Office chief, said they will check the serial numbers of the rifles and pistols to trace the sources.

Anunciado and four of his underlings were killed in a shootout with operatives from the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas in Barangay Cawayan, Inabanga.

PRO-Central Visayas Director Patrocinio Comendador Jr. said they will also look into the possibility that these firearms were stolen.

Aside from inspecting the serial numbers, Daguno said they check the records of the Firearms and Explosives Office and test the firearms for gunpowder residues.

He said examinations will determine if these were used in previous shooting incidents.

The firearms are three .45 pistols, M16 rifle, shotgun, KG9 submachine pistol, and .22 sniper rifle.

Captured alive

Last Sunday morning, operatives led by Regional Special Operations Group Chief George Ylanan killed Anunciado, Medes Enoc, Alipio Anuta, Milkins Ohina and Pio Justol.

Darya Añanna Nuñez, Justino Vistal Esturba, and Renato Ompad Peticio were captured alive after they surrendered to the police.

More than P3 million worth of shabu and cash were seized from the suspects.

Regional Intelligence Division Chief Rex Derilo said Anunciado’s base is Inabanga, but his operations covered the entire Bohol Province.

The group is also involved in gun-for-hire activities and robberies.
