A SUSPECTED thief was found dead in a river in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia, on Tuesday, reports of Bombo Radyo Bacolod said.

The unidentified victim was lying on a rock with blood stains when found by residents around 7 a.m.

Police recovered a bullet shell of a shotgun and seven fighting cocks with placed inside a sack.

Police are still investigating the incident.

Lightning kills fisherman

In southern Negros, a fisherman died after he was struck by lightning near Molocaboc Island in Sagay City last Sunday, reports from ABS-CBN Bacolod said.

The fatality was identified as Jestoni Saraum of Purok Ipil-Ipil, Barangay Vito, in the said city.

Saraum was in a boat with two other fishermen when the lightning hit.

His two other companions were slightly injured.

In another development, a decomposing body of an old man was found near a vacant building in Barangay 2 in E.B. Magalona town on Tuesday.

Police identified the fatality as Simplicio de los Reyes, 60.

Senior Inspector Bonifacio Aral Jr., town police chief, said the victim was found by pedicab drivers around 2:15 p.m.

Aral said the victim, who is living alone since his children are based in Bacolod City, was last seen alive on Sunday.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause death, the police chief said.

Tricycle driver found dead

In Bacolod, a tricycle driver was found dead in a remote area at Purok Arao 2, Barangay Estefania, also on Tuesday.

Police identified the fatality as Fortunato Gapalago Jr., 35, of Purok Boulevard, Barangay 13.

Gapalago sustained wounds in his head.

Senior Inspector John Ganzon, chief of Police Station 4, said the victim was found by a sugarcane worker around 6 a.m., and was identified by his wife.

Police recovered a belt bag, a pair of slippers, and a stone with blood stains.

Ganzon said the victim was last seen walking along Abada Street with two unidentified companions.
