CANDIDATES in the recent May 9 polls flocked to the local office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to file their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (Soce) Wednesday, June 8, the last day of filing.
Based on the records of the Comelec in the city, 50 of 78 candidates filed their Soce as of 4:37 p.m., June 8.
Other candidates have sent their representatives to file the Soce on their behalf.
The Soces submitted were thoroughly checked, reviewed and verified by the Comelec staff to ensure that complete and accurate documents were submitted.
Incomplete and Soce with mistakes were not accepted.
According to the poll body, many candidates left some questions unanswered in their Soce.
"Ang mga Soce nga kulang and walay supported nga documents dili dawaton," City Comelec Officer Lawyer Joel Dexter Nagtalon said.
The Comelec extended its office hours until 7:00 p.m., June 8, to accommodate late filers.
Nagtalon earlier said the poll body would be very strict with the deadline as the schedule for the filing will not be extended.
On June 3, several candidates filed their Soce including Zaldy Ocon, Nadya Emano and Lordan Suan.
On June 6, three other candidates filed their SOCE namely Rufus Rodriguez, Maximo Rodriguez and Leon Gan.
Mayor Oscar Moreno filed his Soce on June 7 as well as Enrico Salcedo, Edgar Cabanlas, Maria Lourdes Gaane, Alfredo Carcosa, Narcissius Tan, and George Goking.
As of 4:37 p.m., Wednesday, candidates who filed included former Mayor Vicente Emano, Al Legaspi, Roy Raagas, Suzette Magtajas-Daba, Oscar Musni, Filipino Amoguis, Omar Labuntog, Jay Pascual, Roque Marban, Rogelio Villazorda, Romeo Calizo, Roger Abaday, Rolando Uy, Rainier Joaquin Uy, Maximo Allorin, Keith Paasa, Reuben Daba, Marlen Lagumen, Edna Dahino, Nicolas Elio, Aaron Neri, Ermin Pimentel, Celso Balat, James Judith, Alvin Calingin, Romer Cabildo, Norris Babiera, Conrad Lim, Pedro Balite, Ramon Tabor, Elmer Dela Rosa, Dometilo Acenas, Felix Borres, Ian Mark Nacaya, Dures Tagayuna, Adonis Gumahad, and Raul Ramon Roa.
After the filing of Soce, the documents will be forwarded to the Campaign Finance Office of Comelec Central Office to verify the data submitted by the candidates.
The said office is in charge of monitoring the campaign contributions and expenditures.
