Eagle shooting suspect arraignment reset anew

REGIONAL Trial Court-Branch 10 presiding Judge Retrina Fuentes has ordered to move anew the arraignment schedule of the suspect in the shooting of Philippine Eagle "Matatag" last September 2.

Rolando Aparesio, 18, was supposed to be arraigned for the charges of violation of Comelec gun ban and Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act last Friday.

During the supposed hearing, the defense counsel filed a motion to suppress evidence that questioned the admissibility of the firearm that was allegedly surrendered by Tiburcio Solis Aparesio, 24, to the police.

In an order dated June 3, it was stated that the motion to suppress evidence is currently subjected into a resolution without any comment from the prosecution.

The legal counsel of Aparesio, lawyer Eni Grace Fabila, also manifested that she will no longer present any evidence in support of her motion.

The Baguio police arrested the accused after his brother turned up to the station and reported the incident to the authorities where he allegedly owned up to the shooting of "Matatag" at SitioMangas-as, Barangay Tambobong in Baguio District, Davao City last February 21 after the bird was released in the wild by the Philippine Eagle Foundation.
