THE employee of Negros Occidental Provincial Government involved in a road accident while driving a Capitol-owned vehicle last month is facing serious misconduct charges.
Provincial Legal Officer Jose Maria Valencia said Wednesday, June 8, that Rodrigo Salazar, administrative officer of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, already submitted his reply to the order asking him to explain the incident.
“I talked to him and he has an explanation which I will refer to the administrative body that will conduct an investigation and will recommend the necessary actions to Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr.,” Valencia said.
He added that Salazar told him that his supervisor has an investigation report which he attached to his written reply.
“After we review this and once a formal charge is filed against him for serious misconduct and other possible charges, we will recommend to the governor if he will be penalized with a suspension,” Valencia said.
“He still can report to work until that happens,” he added.
The accident on the night of May 18 claimed the life of nurse Berlin Bedayo, 25, assigned at Bago City District Hospital. Also injured were nurses Lea Surmaco, 34; and Paula Ureta, 32; and tricycle driver Noel Serva.
Salazar posted bail for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple physical injuries, and damage to property complaints filed against him before the Bago City Prosecutor’s Office. (TDE)
