Gov't agencies reminded on Z3R projects’ timelines

MAYOR Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has reminded National Government agencies undertaking the various projects under the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction (Z3R) on the timelines set for the completion of the same.

Salazar said the National Housing Authority (NHA) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) should fast track and effect turnover of the projects by September or even before the new administration takes over.

“We are concerned about the pending projects. We want something significant done as soon as possible,” said Salazar, who heads the Local Inter-Agency Committee (LIAC).

The mayor expressed concern that new policies might be introduced with regard to the implementation of the Z3R once the new administration takes over the national government come June 30.

“We don’t want our people to be left behind,” she added.

The DPWH reported a completion rate of 82.25 percent in as far as the road and drainage projects in Z3R areas are concerned.

The remaining percentage depends on the connection of utilities such as water and light.

The NHA reported a completion rate of 54.6 percent with a total of 1,374 units completed and awarded and 2,166 ready for turnover in terms of housing projects.

A total of 6,483 housing units are to be constructed based on the Z3R plan.

The Z3R plan is the program of the government aimed to reconstruct the areas affected during the September 2013 siege. (Bong Garcia)
