Aetas to get restrooms from Quota Pampanga

PORAC -- Three aeta tribes residing inside the Barangay Planas resettlement community here will be given building complete with toilet and hygiene facilities through the initiative of Quota International of Pampanga.

The single level building composes of three bathrooms complete with toilets. The building was constructed in the early part of the year through Quota Pampanga's unified program.

Unified Project chair Myra Manabat said that funds for the program came from contributions of other Quota Clubs in the Philippines from their 2014 district conference held inside Clark Freeport. Manabat said that they have chosen the said location to be recipients of the program based from a social service mission held in 2014.

The said community is a relocation site for those affected and displaced by the 1991 eruption of Mt. Pinatubo and the subsequent lahar flows. The area has been home to at least 80 families or more families from three aeta tribes.

"We have seen the need for hygiene facilities in the area. Most of the houses are made of light materials and while they have a watercourse bathroom and toilet facilities are lacking in some homes," Manabat said.

Manabat said that the facility was constructed at the cost of P127, 000 and will be turned-over to the local community this month. She added that the facility will be managed by the community and will be free for community use. The project is among the impact projects of Quota Pampanga.

The upcoming turn-over will also feature a social service mission while another Quotarian, a member of Quota International of Pampanga, has pledged to added more restroom facility in the said area.

Quota International of Pampanga is active in programs for disadvantaged children, bringing donations for the SPED class, among others.

Quotarians are known especially for their service to the deaf, hard-of-hearing, and speech-impaired individuals and poor women and children. Quota members share the values of serving and encouraging others, developing friendships, and promoting international understanding.
