TWELVE drug users were arrested in separate anti-drug operations by the police in Cebu City last Saturday.
In Barangay Lorega-San Miguel, five users were apprehended by personnel of the Parian Police Station. The suspects were caught having a pot session inside a shanty.
“Nakadawat tag tawag nga naa kuno’y padung pa nga magsuyop (We received a call that some persons are going to have a session,) PO1 Kenneth Pogoy said in an interview with Sun.star Cebu.
Police identified the suspects as Romeo Sarmiento, 29, Elymar Bahala, 33, Jimmy Sasing, 38, Marcos Ponce, 31 and Julie Ponce, 28.
Recovered from the suspects were five small sachets of shabu.
Meanwhile, three police operations in Guadalupe resulted in the arrest of four drug users.
Rey Batuhan, 56, and Neil Diaz, 37, were caught by operatives of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) in Banawa carrying three small sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia.
A 60-year-old widow, Matias Garcia, was also arrested in Sitio Yorico when he was caught in his possession two small sachets of shabu.
A roving patrol from Police Station 9 caught Chaddy Villacampa, 28, carrying two small sachets of shabu.
The suspects will be facing charges for the violation of the anti-illegal drugs law.
Meanwhile, a 21-year-old man was arrested after he snatched a Korean national’s phone. When he was searched, he was found to be carrying nubain.
Charles John Libre also squealed on his cohorts’ location, where they were caught preparing for a pot session in Sitio Laray, Barangay Kamputhaw.
“Gipangita man sa police ang sim pack sa Koreana, naa man nila ang-ang ako ray madakpan, (The police sought for the Korean’s sim pack but they have it so it’ll be unfair if I am the only one who gets caught,)” Libre said in an interview with Sun.Star Cebu.
Miseon Park, 35, was walking along Gorordo Ave. when the suspect snatched her Samsung Note 2 worth P40,000.
Personnel from the Fuente Police Station caught Libre in a follow-up operation at 7 p.m. in Barangay Lahug, with the cooperation of the suspect’s mother.
A six-inch knife and a syringe full of liquid nubain was recovered from Libre.
Inside the patrol car, he told the police about the location of his cohorts. Police checked out the location and found four men about to start a pot session.
The group was found at the basement of a two-storey house.
Police arrested Renard dela Peña, 20 and Ruby Duloz, 30, while Ramon Geres and Bryan Gomez escaped.
Drug paraphernalia was found in the scene.
The suspects will face charges for theft and violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
