No petition for wage hike yet--DOLE

THE DEPARTMENT of Labor and Employment in the Cordillera region has yet to receive a public petition to review the current salary rate.

A public petition for wage review is needed to serve as basis for the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPB) in recommending possible salary adjustment for employees.

But to date, DOLE-CAR has not received any clamor for the review of the salary rate according to Assistant Regional Director Teodoro Delson.

Delson said the last time CAR has implemented wage adjustment was in 2015.

The wage adjustment provided that workers in the non-agriculture and retail/service sector with 11 workers and above within Baguio City, La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tublay and Tuba (BLISTT) to have a daily minimum wage rate of P285 from the previous P280.

Basic salary was increased from P260 to P270, while the Cost of Living Allowance (Cola) was adjusted from P20 to P15.

For those sector located in other areas in the region, the basic salary is P255, while the Cola is P10, making the daily minimum wage rate of P265.

Meanwhile, workers in the agriculture and retail/service with 10 workers and below in Baguio City and LIST areas has a daily minimum wage rate of P270.

In other areas of the region, the basic salary is P255 inclusive of Cola.

Recently, DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz announced that seven RTWPBs including CAR is reviewing the existing wage orders and assessing the socio-economic condition in the regions a year after the latest wage adjustment.

Wage boards are mandated to consult with concerned government agencies, employers and labor organizations to determine if there is a need to grant another salary increase.
