Town mayor to probe unpaid JOs issue

SALVADOR Benedicto Mayor-elect Marxlen de la Cruz said June 15 that he will investigate the reported non-payment of wages of about 250 job order (JO) employees of the Municipal Government.

De la Cruz said in a telephone interview that he received information that some of the names of listed as JO workers are fictitious while there are those who are minors.

If the investigation will prove that there are those who really worked, the Municipal Government will have to pay them, De la Cruz said.

“It is unfair to pay those who did not render service,” he added.

De la Cruz, who is returning as mayor after he defeated one-termer Jose Max Ortiz in the May 9 elections, said he has a lot of house-cleaning to do when he returns by June 30.

He added that on top of his priorities are access to potable water, 24-hour health services, and electrification of the sitios. (TDE)
