Marañon to take drug test, warns Capitol employees

NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said he will undergo a drug test himself after he challenged local officials to be tested for illegal drug use in line with the anti-drug campaign of incoming President Rodrigo Duterte.

He also warned Capitol employees who will be found positive for drugs that they will undergo rehabilitation and that it will be a ground for dismissal from the service.

The governor said he believes there are Capitol employees who are into drugs, as well as employees of other government agencies.

“We will conduct a random and unannounced drug test,” he said. “Those who will refuse means they are users.”

Marañon called on employees who are taking drugs to stop as it is not good for their health, family, and work.

Second district Board Member Salvador Escalante earlier underwent drug test and he revealed that he got a negative result.

He took the drug test Tuesday at a private hospital in Bacolod City. (TDE)
