FIVE more men were arrested in separate police operations as Davao police intensified its measures against illegal drug activities in Davao City, on Wednesday, June 15.
At about 12:45 a.m., authorities in coordination with personnel from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Davao caught Arcelyn Baluan Alpasan and Salem Burahan Alpasan in a drug bust operation along Sta. Ana Avenue.
Around 9:40 a.m., while police were on patrol around Purok 4, Barangay 31-D in Aurora Quezon Street, Piapi Boulevard area, they caught two men sniffing illegal drugs at their doorstep.
Immediately, Marlon Aboyme Payot and a minor, alias Edwin, was captured and detained at the Sta. Ana police station.
At 4:50 p.m. on the same date, a drug bust operation was also conducted at the Toril Sports Complex in Purok 7, Barangay Lubogan, Toril District.
The suspect identified as Noel Chio Capote of Sitio Tambakan, Barangay Lizada in Toril was carrying sachets of illegal drugs with an estimated street value of P4,500. He was detained at Toril Police Station while waiting for regular filing of charges.
Davao City Police Office spokesperson Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz, in an interview on Thursday, June 16, said that these apprehensions are to notify the remaining criminals that law enforcers are true to their words.
"With our former Mayor being elected as the new president of the Philippines, Davao City serves as a role model to other cities in the country. And Davao police really love to show off, there's no forgiving the criminals," Drizsaid. (CCC)
