Security guard dies, 1 hurt in road mishap

A SECURITY guard died while his companion was injured after their motorcycle hit a truck at Purok Taytay in Barangay Oringao, Kabankalan City Thursday.

Police identified the fatality as Adrian Tondo, 27, of Barangay Dawis in Bayawan, Negros Oriental. He is the third victim killed in a road accident in Kabankalan City this week.

Injured was Edmar Havaña, 23, of Negros Oriental, who sustained minor injuries.

The truck was driven by Joselito Gomez, 42, of Lanao del Norte, who voluntarily surrendered to the police.

City Police Chief Superintendent Rhea Santos said Gomez was released after a settlement was reached between the victims’ family and the truck driver.

Several days ago, Jen Cris Quimpo, 12, of Barangay San Agustin,

Isabela town, and Zian Kai Bigay, 3, of Barangay Camingawan, Kabankalan died in separate accidents involving Ceres buses.

Santos reminded motorists to be extra careful on the road especially this rainy season.

Found dead

A jeepney conductor was found dead at Buenavista Phase 4 in Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City on Thursday.

Angelo Artuz, 40, of Barangay Damgo in E.B. Magalona town, was found lying on the kitchen floor with a hack wound on his neck.

Artuz was discovered by Rico Taglocop, 51, owner of the house, at around 3:45 p.m. when he returned from Bacolod City.

Police Officer 3 Randie Zambra, investigator of Silay City Police Station, said over an interview with ABS-CBN Bacolod there was a commotion inside Taglocop’s house before the incident.

He was hacked to death by an unidentified man using an ax, Zambra added.

Police recovered from the victim two wallets containing drug paraphernalia. (GYM)
