POLICE on Wednesday, June 22, shot dead a theft suspect who resisted arrest after he tried to sneak inside a residential house at 5th Street Lanang, Davao City.

The slain suspect believed to be a member of akyat-bahay gang was identified as 30-year-old Bernardo Rama, a resident of Barangay Angliongto, Davao City.

Rama was tagged in several theft incidents in the city.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz told Sun.Star Davao in an interview that the suspect was the same suspect who ransacked the house of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte's executive assistant Christoper "Bong" Go a year ago.

"He broke into the house of Go in Lanang a year ago," Driz said. She, however, clarified that the suspect was arrested in someone else's house and not the residence of Go.

Driz did not divulge details and information what items that suspect took when he ransacked Go's house last year.

The suspect was urged to surrender. Instead of following the order, the suspect resisted arrest and even tried to fire back at them.

Recovered from the crime scene were .38 caliber revolver along with four live ammos.

Rama's cadaver was brought to Rivera Funeral Homes. (Laurence Seri Joy A. Bayona/MSU Intern)
