DFA to launch online passporting

GOODBYE to long lines at the Department of Foreign Affairs Regional Consular Office.

On June 24, the online passport application and appointment system will be implemented at DFA Baguio allowing applicants to schedule an online passporting appointment.

Presently, the agency receives 100 to 150 passport applicants daily while 250 applicants were to be catered during the online application system’s full blast implementation on August.

This July 100 to 200 online and walk-in applicants will be accommodated by the agency while in August only online applicants will be accommodated.

During the full implementation on August only walk in senior citizens, persons with disabilities, pregnant women and minor children 7 years old and below at the RCO even without online appointment will be accommodated.

The system is a way for the department to keep up with international standards of application and processing which may possibly be quicker with a new system.

Applicants may book their appointments at this website – https://www.passport.GOV.ph.

First step of the process is to log in at the website and provide correct personal information and contact details.

Applicants will directly enter information at the online system so there will be no encoding at the DFA office again.

Applicants may also choose the schedule of appointment and which office they intend to apply in, the preferred date and time for the application and finally proceed to the chosen DFA site with the required documents.

With the new system in place the application process at the DFA RCO-Baguio will only take 10 to 15 minutes.

DFA Baguio reminds applicants that non-appearance on scheduled appointment will merit a 30-day ban or “Time Penalty”.

For new and renewal applicants must bring filled-up application form, authenticated Birth Certificate (new), expired passport (renewal) valid picture IDs and two supporting documents to prove identity.

Valid ID’s are digitized SSS I, Driver’s License, GSIS E-card, PRC ID, IBP ID, OWWA ID, Digitized BIR ID, Senior Citizen’s ID, Unified Multi-Purpose ID, Voter’s ID, Old College ID, Alumni ID and Old Employment IDs.

Supporting documents can be PSA Marriage Contract, Land Title, Seaman’s Book, Elementary or High School Form 137 or Transcript of Records with readable dry seal, Government Service Record, NBI Clearance, Police Clearance, Barangay Clearance, Digitized Postal ID, Readable SSS-E1 Form or Microfilmed Copy of SSS-E1 Form, Voter’s Certification, List of Voters and Voter’s Registration Record, and School Yearbook

Passports will be released after twenty (20) work days from the date of payment (local applicant) and 30 working days for Filipino applicants from abroad.

Applicants may choose to schedule individually or as a group.

The DFA would like to remind its applicants to be careful in filling up the Passport Appointment Application to ensure all entries provided are true and correct. Any errors committed in the online form may result in delay in the application and any misrepresentation of information may be considered as ground for refusal or cancellation of the application.

Kindly make sure that all requirements necessary to the application are ready and complete on the scheduled date.

Please be reminded that non-appearance on scheduled date of appointment will result in a “Time Penalty” or a 30-day ban.

Excluded from the appointment system are senior citizens, persons with disabilities, pregnant women and minor children seven years old and below.

The passport application of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) may also be accommodated without a scheduled appointment by presenting to this Office a valid employment contract and other supporting documents as may be necessary.

Those applying for the replacement of their lost valid passport may also proceed directly at the Information Desk without an appointment.

There will be an initial 15-day clearing period prior to the processing of application for replacement of a lost valid passport.
