New Davao police chief to address traffic woes

DAVAO City Police Office Director Senior Superintendent Michael John Dubria has vowed to address the alarming traffic congestion in the city.

In an interview with Sun.Star Davao late Friday afternoon, the newly-installed city police director discussed various strategies to address criminality and the traffic woes during his two-year term.

"I am challenged as well as happy with this new assignment. For now, I think what we should prioritize on solving the city's rising problem on traffic," Dubria said.

He said he will order the deployment of more personnel on the streets to facilitate a smooth flow of traffic.

"With the development that Davao City is going through and our former mayor being elected as the President, we are expecting a lot of activities here," he said.

Davao is being looked up to by the other cities in the country hence, the police has to be excellent with their duties, he added.

Dubria also said that he would like to retain all the effective operations that former City Director Senior Superintendent Vicente Danao, Jr. has done.

President-elect Rodrigo Duterte have previously said he may tap Danao for an anti-illegal drugs task force that he's forming.
