Guard loses gun, phone in heist

TWO robbers only got the security guard’s firearm and cellphone when they tried to rob an electronic bingo outlet in Basak, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.

Personnel of Bingo Boutique in Tamiya called Lapu-Lapu Police Station 4 after two unidentified armed men entered the establishment past 9 a.m.

While Noel Abadilla, the security guard of the bingo boutique, frisked one of the men, the other pointed his firearm at him.

Pointing the gun at the guard, the culprit took Abadilla’s service firearm and cellphone.

SPO4 Pablito Saldo, investigator of Police Station 4, said the suspects proceeded to the cashier area and tried to open the door but failed.

No cashier

Saldo said the suspects were not able to find the cashier, after the latter hid when she learned a robbery was going on.

Janelle Reyes, a resident of Barangay Ermita in Cebu City, was the assistant branch cashier of the Bingo Boutique.

After several attempts to open the door to get the money, the culprits decided to leave.

They got Abadilla’s issued firearm, a .38 revolver with six bullets, and his Android mobile phone.

Police couldn’t say what firearm the culprits were using.

Saldo said the guard could not say if the robbers were riding a motorcycle because they were hiding inside when the culprits fled.

The robbers were wearing caps.

Naay CCTV pero ang na-save kato pang May 15 (They have closed-circuit television cameras, but the saved footage was still from May 15),” Saldo said.

Authorities were asking the neighboring business establishments if they can review their CCTV cameras to help identify the robbers.

Police are still conducting follow-up operations to arrest the robbers.
