Drug lord 'Jaguar' laid to rest

CEBU CITY (Updated) -- Central Visayas' biggest drug lord Jeffrey "Jaguar" Diaz was laid to rest Monday, June 27.

Hundreds of his supporters, with his family and friends, joined the funeral, which started with a mass at the San Nicolas Parish in Barangay San Nicolas, Cebu City, around 1 p.m.

A drum and bugle corps also accompanied his hearse, while his supporters wore shirts printed with Diaz's face.

Security was tight at the funeral, and members of the media were not even allowed to enter the church where the mass was held.

Some supporters, who failed to join the funeral, expressed their condolences to Diaz, whom they said was kind to them.

Diaz was buried in a mausoleum built at Calamba cemetery.

The said mausoleum is worth P200,000 which excludes expensive materials like marble, limestones and tiles.

Diaz was killed in a shootout last June 17 in Las Piñas City. He has been tagged in a multimillion-peso criminal drug syndicate. (OPM/LMY/Sunnex)
