First-ever Integrated Public Safety Complex unveiled

DAVAO City has added yet another feather to its cap as the first-ever integrated safety and rescue facility in country with police, fire and Central 911 stations in one address was recently inaugurated.

The unveiling of the integrated public safety complex at the Cabantian address of the new facility were prominent names in the business, political and social scene.

“We at Alsons Development and Investment Corporation are pleased to present to the city government this 2,000 square meter integrated public safety facility comprised of 911, fire, and police stations that will enable faster response to emergencies here in Buhangin, one of the most populous districts in the city,” said Tomas Alcantara, Chairman of the Alcantara Group of Companies.

Prior to the opening of the complex, the closest 911 station was 10 kilometers away and the nearest fire station was 5 kilometers away.

The opening of the new complex will help bring emergency, fire, and police services closer to the people of district.

Alcantara also shared that it was back on 2012 when Alsons Dev. first proposed the idea of donating and building an integrated public safety facility to Mayor Sara Duterte. They initially thought of donating a portion of our 116-hectare property in Cabantian, but later offered to donate and build the structures themselves and had the groundbreaking ceremony with then Davao City Mayor RodyDuterte last July 2015.

“We find it pleasantly serendipitous to be turning over the completed complex to Mayor Sara; and through her, to the next President of the Republic of the Philippines.”

The new public safety complex features a two-storey Central 911 station with an infirmary and standby ambulance; a one-storey Police Station with two detention cells; and a two-storey Fire Station with two standby fire trucks. This allows the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire and Central 911 to streamline their response to distress call as they provide 24-hour medical, rescue, fire, K-9, and police assistance.

“This project is out modest way of giving back to Dabawenyos, who have been our customers, clients and partners for over 50 years. We are proud to partner with the city government in to make Davao one of the safest and most livable places in the world,” said the company’s EVP Rosie Dominguez.
