5 men fall in CIDG shabu bust

FIVE people were arrested and an estimated P180,000 worth of suspected drugs were seized during a buy-bust by the operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7 in Barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.

The arrested suspected were identified as Rey Pulvera, Alvin Mendoza, Alvin Lumungsod, Ome Torrifranca and Brian Viral.

Marlon Enopia, a former security guard of a private company, who was the subject of the buy-bust, reportedly escaped.

Supt. Fermin Armendarez, who led the team of operatives, said that Mendoza, Lumungsod and Enopia were part of an illegal drug group operating in the city. The group is allegedly led by a “drug lord” named Dixie Pepito.

“These two Alvins and Enopia conspired in the illegal drug trade and their supply of drugs were just delivered,” Armendarez said in Cebuano.

The scope of the group’s illegal drug business reportedly covers Barangays Gun-ob and Basak.

The drug suspects were placed under two weeks surveillance.

Mendoza admitted he uses drugs, but denied he is into the shabu business.

In Cebu City, a 19-year-old female detainee at Fuente Police Station was caught with a sachet of shabu and sniffing paraphernalia inside her cell last Monday evening.

Jhea Jane Almario was detained for alleged pickpocketing after taking the cellular phones of a Korean national last June 25. Almario was set to be released the following day after the foreigner decided not to press a complaint against her.

In a surprise inspection of her cell, police found her in a corner with a small sachet of shabu in her hand and two aluminum foil sheets, which she could have used funnel and tooter in sniffing shabu.
