Wong bares plans for next term

SAN SIMON -- Mayor Leonora Wong of this town on Friday delivered her state of the municipality address which highlighted her accomplishments in the last three years.

"Change is coming according to President Rodrigo ‘Rody’ Duterte but in San Simon town, we started change in the year of 2010 and we will just enhance that change," Wong said.

"I will continue what I started in 2010 and I wish to continue my unfinished business. The 2016 election is my sweetest victory," she said.

Wong also mentioned her agenda for her last term as the municipal mayor.

Her first agenda is to reduce poverty that will lead to economic development followed with social protection, gender and development or equal rights and third is enhancing competitiveness among municipalities and cities in Pampanga.

Wong said the plan to build the three-hectare government center and to maintain being a service-oriented and business-friendly town will continue.

"Baka matapos yung local government center namin sa taong 2019 at para ma-experience ko naman yun pero kahit sinong umupong susunod mayor noon ay willing naman ako ipabahala," said Wong.

Her 4th agenda is environmental sustainability in climate change and disaster resiliency and the last is to maintain the Seal of Good Local Governance award the local government unit won.

"Election is over, so are political colors and differences. Sangguniang Bayan members must be united for the people to achieve our goals," said Wong.

She recognized the presence of two newly elected councilors from the other political party who attended her inauguration and said she needed the support of each councilor to achieve her five-point agenda.

Wong further disclosed said the municipal government will purchase additional vehicles for barangays for use in information dissemination on environmental protection and management.

She thanked her supporters and Simonians for their continued trust in her administration.
