Bantay Bata 163 receives P247T from slipper race

PROJECT Happy Feet slipper race, where over 250 participants walked their way in slippers around the one-kilometer jogging track and completed team challenges, raised a total of P247,500 for Bantay Bata 163’s Bantay Edukasyon program.

Organized by Crimson Resort & Spa Mactan, the slipper race is a fund-raising event started by Project Happy Feet Ltd, a Singapore-based non-profit organization whose project principle Crimson adopted.

This requires a 100 percent of the registration fee of the event to be given to the chosen beneficiary, which must support education and training of children, and at the same time absorbing the operational cost of organizing the event by the organizing committee or finding sponsors.

This year’s event has been supported by the resort’s suppliers and friends in the industry. This included our Crimson’s mother company Filinvest, Pevonia, Optima, Krispy Kreme, Basic Graphics, Ishow, Dragon Fireworks, Limtong, Jerk Audio, Ayala Center Cebu, Titania Wine Cellar, Del Monte, Pevonia and Nature Spring, with media partners Sun.Star Cebu, Cebu Daily News, The Freeman and Photographers’ Club of Cebu. The race after party and awarding was supported by Adrigel Farms Corp., Ric Fish Dealer, Sonia’s Store, All Filipino Foods Inc., Meatland Traders Corp., San Miguel Foods Inc., Richel Fish Vendor, Cebu Red Hen Trading Corp., Chony’s Fruit Stand, JMS Fuel Resources, Helbert & Christian Seafood Supply and Belcris.

The race started with a 1-km ceremonial walk, which puts all participants on the shoe of the students and children who had to work kilometers just to go to school and get education. When it was time to play, the teams showed their competitive spirit in accomplishing all six pit stops that required team work and coordination among group members to efficiently accomplish the challenges.

Each year the games and challenges change so repeat teams will be kept guessing, and there were quite a number of them. The stops for the resort edition race featured the minute to win it challenges, such as stack attack, junk in the trunk, suck it up and the mind blowing tangram challenge.

Emerging victorious were teams from Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, who finished third, Marine Tours finishing second and this year’s champion, was the team from Philippine Travel Network who finished the six obstacle race in 30 minutes.
