SELF-CONFESSED criminals who have surrendered following repeated warnings by President Rodrigo Duterte that he will be harsh in implementing the law have now reached 200 between June 30 and the first three days of July in Davao City.
A breakdown of the numbers released by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) was handed down by the police indicating that on June 30, one admitted being involved with illegal activities in the city while 108 followed on July 1.
On July 2, another two showed up and 89 more confessed on July 3.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Davao Legal counsel lawyer Ben Joseph Tesiorna have previously stated those who are classified as dependent on illegal drugs were recommended to go to the Drug Rehabilitation Center in Bago Oshiro, Barangay Mintal, Davao City.
“Police will be checking on them from time to time but those who surrendered with criminal charges will be automatically brought to prison,” Tesiorna said.
In the same data, it showed that 26 men were apprehended during drug bust since June 1; 30 were arrested for various crimes; and three were killed during police operations.
Yesterday, July 4, seven self-confessed drug pushers also surrendered to Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte. They were turned over by First District Councilor Edgar Ibuyan, Jr.
