Attempted murder raps vs woman, 2 others

A WOMAN and two men are facing charges before the Regional Trial Court (RTC) after they allegedly hurt another woman and her kids at their residence in Brgy. Angliongto in Davao City last year.

Facing attempted murder and for violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act are Josephine Siloy, Dodong Inocillas and Jun-Jun Inocillas.

Prosecutor Marte Melchor Velasco found probable cause to charge the three based on the complaint of the victim, Gloria Patricio.

The case stemmed from a grudge happened on June 28, 2014 that the respondents had in relation to a child abuse complaint filed by Patricio against the respondents' relative.

The respondents were allegedly observed to be under the influence of alcohol, as they were having a drinking spree outside the house of Patricio.

Siloy then allegedly challenged Patricio to a fistfight but the latter refused to engage that led Siloy to throw sands at Patricio and threat to kill her, which forced the complainant to go inside her house.

However, the respondents started to hurl stones at their house which resulted in the destruction of Patricio’s door but when she was about to close it back, the damaged door Jun-Jun allegedly whacked her head with a piece of wood

The suspect also allegedly punched Joanne and Carlo, the kids of the complainant.

The commotion stopped when operatives of Sasa police responded at the scene.

Other than the attempt on the life of Patricio, Velasco also affirmed the child abuse charges on the basis that the children were hurt by Jun-Jun while they were traumatized upon seeing their mother getting hurt.

Siloy filed a motion for reconsideration, claiming that it was Patricio who started the fight as she was unruly when they were having a party. Velasco, however, denied Siloy's motion for reconsideration for lack of evidence. (RPSA)
