ILOILO CITY – CityMall Parola cannot operate without a business permit from the City Government said re-elected city Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog after his inauguration on July 4, Monday.
Mabilog said there are certain issues to be discussed with the Double Dragon Properties Corporation (DDPC), owner of the CityMall Parola arising within the government owned property assigned for a ferry terminal project.
This project is intended for commuters going to Guimaras Island province and back to the city.
Norman Tabud, Chief of the Business Permit and Licensing Office, confirmed that no business permit was granted yet to the City Mall operation.
The city mayor said he is going to meet soon the DDPC officials for a win-win solution on all issues and concerns regarding the Parola wharf.
JVA
Earlier, the City Government entered into a joint venture agreement (JVA) with Double Dragon as developer for the establishment of a ferry terminal to serve the needs of ferryboat passengers going to Guimaras.
The JVA also covered a provision for the establishment of a commercial complex within the site but CityMall rose instead.
Other provisions of JVA was there is only one ferry terminal and wharf for all passengers going to Guimaras but Mabilog said he will ask Double Dragon to allow the continued operation of the Ortiz wharf servicing ferryboats going to Jordan, Guimaras.
They will also discuss the request of the Provincial Government of Guimaras to reduce the P11 terminal fee of passengers or follow the operation of Boracay jetty port in allowing residents of Aklan without a terminal fee in going to Boracay Island.
