THE Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ordered Wednesday the removal of 28 cosmetic products from the market after they were found to be containing toxic elements.
According to FDA Advisory No. 2015-025, all the 28 cosmetic products must be removed from the market as they pose danger to the consuming public.
“FDA field regulator officers are being ordered to closely monitor the presence of the said products in the market and ensure that they are not being sold or offered to consumers,” the advisory said.

Lipstick products Ashley Shine New Formulized Moisture Lipstick #07, Kiss Beauty Professional BB Cinema Lipstick #5 and Monaliza Series Lipstick #07; and whitening Spray Daiyasi UV Resistance BB Whitening Spray are also covered by the seizure order.
Local government units are asked to ensure that the concerned cosmetic products, said to contain heavy high levels of lead and mercury, are not being sold especially by ambulant and sidewalk vendors.
Studies indicate that exposure to mercury-tainted products can permanently damage the brain, kidneys, and developing fetus and may cause negative effects on brain functioning resulting in irritability, shyness, tremors, changes in vision or hearing, and memory problems.
Excessive lead exposure, on the other hand, can potentially cause abdominal pain and cramping, aggressive behavior, anemia, constipation, difficulty sleeping, headaches, irritability, loss of previous developmental skills (in young children), low appetite and energy, reduced sensations as well as vomiting, staggering walk, muscle weakness, seizures, or coma.
