‘Pusher’ in Dalaguete shot dead after he surrendered to police

A SUSPECTED drug pusher who surrendered to the police was shot to death by an unidentified gunman while feeding his two-year-old son in Barangay Balud, Dalaguete Thursday night.

Police said Basilio “Boy Kagot” Jocson was killed a day after he surrendered and promised not to sell illegal drugs again.

The 38-year-old victim succumbed to a gunshot wound in the chest. His son was not hit.

Senior Insp. Dexter Basirgo, the town police chief, said Jocson’s involvement in the illegal drug trade is the main focus of their investigation.

Jocson reportedly owed a huge sum of money to a drug pusher who is reportedly based in Naga City. The victim’s supplier is reportedly from Cebu City.

PO3 Leo Gesim, investigator, said the victim was in the kitchen at 8 p.m. with his son when two persons carried out the crime, with one of them acting as a lookout.

His live-in partner, Jennilyne Balansag, 28, was in the room on the second floor.

While she was about to sleep, Balansag heard a burst of gunshot. She went out of the room and found Jocson sprawled on the floor, bloodied.

She shouted for help. Neighbors and relatives arrived at the house and took Jocson to a public hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

An investigation showed that the assassin possibly sneaked his firearm through a small opening of the door, which is made of woven bamboo panel.

Scene of the Crime operatives recovered two empty shells of .45 pistol near the door.

Balansag told police she was not able to see the face of the gunman because their neighborhood was dark.
