5,000 drug users, pushers yield

AT LEAST 5,000 drug users and pushers surrendered to authorities in Davao del Norte, Saturday, July 9.

In Tagum City, more than 4,000 drug pushers and users have yielded to authorities.

Tagum City police commander Supt. Alexander Serrano Jr. said they started with the operation "TokHang" (knock and plead) on June 15.

On July 9, the surrenderees filled the new city hall of Tagum City in Apokon as they vowed before the public that they are not going to get involved with any illegal drug activities anymore.

In the municipality of Kapalong, the number rose up to 721 from 400 since the police started with the Project Mañanita-Oplan Tokhang operations on July 4.

Project Mañanita is where police officers serenade homes of suspected drug peddlers and not just knock and plead. (CCC)
