2 dead in street accidents

TWO persons were killed in vehicular accidents in the city last Saturday.

A man on a motorcycle was hit by an unidentified motor vehicle at 5 a.m. in Doña Rita Village, Banilad, Cebu City.

Alvizo Nepumoceno, 56, was driving his motorcycle along Gov. Cuenco Ave. flyover on his way to North Banilad.

Another vehicle hit the victim, causing his motorcycle to fall.

The driver of the vehicle fled, leaving Nepomuceno wounded on the street.

The victim was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) but minutes after, succumbed to different injuries in his body.

Five hours later, another accident happened in F. Vestil St. when Gersua Esconde Jr. who hails from Barangay Kalunasan drove over a man on a motorcycle.

Dead

In an initial investigation by SPO2 Filomeno Viquezo Jr., of the Traffic Patrol Group (TPG), Esconde who was driving his van towards the Mambaling area, ran over Hiram Abordonado, 37, upon reaching the road in front of a mall in South Road Properties.

Abordonado was brought to the CCMC, but was declared dead.

The suspect will be facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide.

Mauled

In a separate report, a man died after he was mauled and fell down a bridge in Barangay Bonbon, Cebu at 11:30 p.m. last Saturday.

Homicide investigators identified the victim as George Repiso, 38, a Public Utility Vehicle (PUJ) conductor, while the suspect as Harold Insola, 22.

According to the victim’s mother, Rosalina Repiso, her son was only trying to pacify Insola when he was started to create trouble.

The suspect got angry and punched George on the face that caused him to go off-balance and fall down the bridge.

The victim sustained serious injuries on his body and died on the way to the CCMC.

Insola is currently detained in the Mabolo Police Station and will face charges for homicide if found guilty.
