175 men yield, swear to drop drugs

MORE than 170 suspected drug personalities from three barangays in Minglanilla surrendered to authorities yesterday.

Chief Insp. Franco Rudolf Oriol, Minglanilla Police chief, told Sun.Star Cebu that around 175 suspected drug personalities from Barangays Tungkop, Tunghaan and Poblacion Ward 3 formally submitted their intention to no longer use and sell drugs for good.

At around 9 a.m. yesterday, Oriol said that around 110 suspected drug personalities surrendered in Barangay Tungkop.

Minglanilla Mayor Elanito Peña, Vice Mayor Robert John Selma and other town and barangay officials were present when the 110 suspected drug personalities were brought in to surrender.

A few hours later, around 25 suspected drug personalities from Barangay Poblacion Ward 3 and 40 from Barangay Tunghaan also surrendered to local police.

The surrender of 175 suspected drug personalities in Minglanilla is part of President Rodrigo Duterte’s program to rid the country of illegal drugs.
