CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The City Government of San Fernando will highlight its locally made products in the upcoming Pyestang Fernandino Agro-Industrial Trade Fair on May 20 to 24 along A. Consunji Street here hoping to bring more attention to its crafts and products.
City Tourism and Investment Officer Ching Pangilinan said that the fair will also draw attention to 50 exhibitors of different crafts, products and even food delicacies. She added that the event aims to promote these products and make them more popular in the local markets.
She furthered that the One Barangay One Product program will also be showcased by the different villages and their products in the fair. Indigenous products of Fernandinos like wood crafts, water lily handicrafts, fresh farm products, authentic Kapampangan cuisine and native delicacies will be made available in the event at reasonable prices.
Just this February, the city also hosted a similar agro-industrial trade fair. Mayor Edwin Santiago bared in a recent interview that a new vision is being drafted for the local government unit and that is to become “the center for Kapampangan culture, heritage, culinary and arts.”
“May binubuong bagong bisyon para sa San Fernando. Iyan ang magiging sentro ng kulturang Kapampangan dahil katungkulan ng lahat ng mamamayan sa lungsod ang pagpapalago ng kulturang Fernandino. Culture marks our identity as a people so it should be enriched and preserved,” he said.
He noted that with this, small and medium economic enterprises will have more opportunities and will also promote healthy competition with giant companies including malls. Likewise, he added activities like this will revitalize the city’s public markets which are considered as cultural treasures.
“Ang gusto natin ay magkakaroon ng masiglang investment promotion, trade fairs at road shows ukol sa mga produkto ng San Fernando. We will push not only the One Town One Product program. We will involve everybody through the One Barangay One Product program,” said Santiago.
