Davao police: Most drug users are parents

MOST people who surrendered to authorities as illegal drug users and pushers were parents, police said.

This was revealed by Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Inspector Catherine dela Ray on Wednesday’s AFP-PNP press conference at The Ritz Hotel.

“We have high hopes that they are going to change for the better because they have a family to care for,” she said.

Dela Ray, who shared a data of the DCPO's record on illegal drug personalities who surrendered, said more than 60 percent of them are parents.

“Ito rin ang dahilan kung bakit hindi nila gusting magpa-rehab muna kasi nga meron silang dapat suportahan na mga anak,” she added.

From July 1 until July 12, DCPO received 1,917 men surrenderees and vowed never to dwell on illegal drug activities in the city again.

The police, on the other hand, are closely monitoring the actions of those who surrendered.
