Northern Cities show off at 'Sabsabong ti Mayo'

TEN cities in Northern Luzon will showcase their historical and cultural legacy at the "Sabsabong ti Mayo" festival that opens on Thursday in Baguio City.

The Sabsabong ti Mayo "aims to promote what these cities have here in Baguio City and for them to have a tighter relationship with each other," Baguio tourism officer Benny Alhambra said.

The participating cities are Alaminos, Urdaneta, San Carlos and Dagupan in Pangasinan; San Fernando in La Union; Candon and Vigan in Ilocos Sur; Batac and Laoag in Ilocos Norte; and Tabuk in Kalinga.

The event will kick off with the Amianan Tourism Forum at the Baguio Convention Center, which will provide a venue for cities to promote and market their famous tourist destinations, products and services.

The Amianan Trade Exhibit will open on Thursday and will last until May 17.

In the afternoon, there will be a Santacruzan procession.

On March 16, a fashion show will feature indigenous garments and accessories at the Convention Center. (Giovani Joy Fontanilla)
