Man nabbed in Minglanilla for drugs

A MAN was arrested in a buy-bust operation after police found packs of suspected shabu in his possession in Barangay Tulay, Minglanilla, Cebu at 4:30 a.m. yesterday.

The suspect, Cesar Obsioma Cañezares, 38, is a resident of Barangay Tulay, Minglanilla, Cebu.

The operation was led by Police Chief Insp. Franco Rudolf Oriol with SPO2 Roland Camello, PO3 George Campomanes, PO2 Evie Espina and PO2 Juvie Egdamin.

The team found Cañezares allegedly waiting for a potential buyer five kilometers from a barbecue grill.

Recovered from his possession were two small packs and one sachet containing alleged shabu, the P200 buy-bust money and P260, believed to be his profit from selling shabu.

Camello said they learned during the interview that Cañezares was linked to a drug syndicate in Barangay Tangke, Talisay City, but he had no idea of the drug lord’s identity since the transactions were only done by text.

He said that based on their information, one sachet of shabu increased from P150 to P200 due to its decreasing supply.

Cañezares admitted that he sold drugs for seven months.

He said that a certain “Madam” is the one who supplied him, but is not the same person who came from Barangay Tangke, Talisay City.

Cañezares is currently detained at the Minglanilla Police Station.

Charges will be filed against him today. Jyda Yeecynth Ang, USJR Intern
