Arroyo ally welcomes SC ruling

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO--A known ally of reelected Pampanga Second District Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Tuesday lauded and welcomed the Supreme Court decision to drop the plunder case against her and set the former President free.

"Kapampangans are happy with the Supreme Court decision. It has been more than five years that she has been in detention. Finally, she is free and could help in the further development of Pampanga," said Governor Lilia Pineda.

The governor, who is a staunch advocate of health, noted that Mrs. Arroyo can now seek medical treatment here or abroad from a medical team or doctors of her choice.

"Iyun ang pinaka-importante after she is freed. Ang kanyang kalusugan na dapat mapangalagaan at maagapan habang maaga pa. She could seek medical treatment here or abroad," she said.

Though saying that she has not received information yet on whether Mrs. Arroyo would go home to her hometown in Lubao, Governor Pineda said that local officials and other Kapampangan allies are looking at giving the former a grand homecoming.

"We still donít know if she will come home to Lubao soon. Nevertheless, when she does, we will accord her a grand homecoming highlighted by a thanksgiving mass celebrating her freedom," the governor said. (JTD)
