Iloilo police to cooperate with City Government

SUPERINTENDENT Remus Zacharias Canieso, chief of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) is offering full support and cooperation with the City Government.

Canieso expressed his support particularly on the committee on police matters headed by councilor Jeffrey Ganzon.

A meeting was held Tuesday at the councilor's office to discuss matters on peace and order, crime situation and the formulation of local community cooperation to the police.

Canieso admitted the presence of police is not enough to prevent crime and he urged the cooperation of the public in curbing illegal drugs and criminality in the barangays.

Ganzon for his part said he will file crime prevention measures at the legislative body in support to the local police.

The official said one of this particular measure is taking a family picture of known criminals and drug pushers which will then be piloted in one city barangay.

The family picture will help deter criminals since this will affect and involve members of their families.

Another measure will be the deployment of massive police visibility especially during nighttime where the public usually congregate.

Ganzon will also propose to ban men not wearing t-shirts in public places like parks, markets, streets even outside their residence. (LCP)
