THE internal cleansing in the police force resulted in the transfer of five officials and 24 non-commissioned officers in Central Visayas to as far as Cagayan Valley in the north and the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao in southern Mindanao.
Police Director General Ronald dela Rosa said the relief of cops can disrupt their alleged illegal activities, including drug trade. The official visited the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 last Monday.
The relief took effect July 15. Among those transferred were Senior Insp. Romeo Casildo Sentinta Jr., formerly of Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG); Senior Insp. Delfin Hontomin Bontuyan of Criminal Investigation and Detective Group 7; Senior Insp. Chuck Maghanoy Barandog of Cebu City Police Office (CCPO); Senior Insp. Ruel Logrono Burlat, also a former RSOG operative; and Senior Insp. Joel Ramos Corpuz of CCPO.
One of the commissioned officers, who requested anonymity, said they would have difficulty attending court hearings in Cebu City if they are assigned to far-flung offices. (Commissioned officers hold ranks from inspectors to generals, while non-commissioned officers have ranks from Police Officer 1 to Senior Police Officer 4.)
“Gasto kaayo na (It’s costly),” he said in a phone interview.
A police official, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, said there are more officers under PRO 7 who will be transferred.
PRO 7 Acting Director Chief Supt. Noli Taliño, who relieved 67 RSOG and anti-illegal drugs task group operatives, said he wants new operatives headed by new leaders.
“Masyado na silang na-associate sa kanilang trabaho at minsan siguro medyo hindi na sila ganun ka aggressive (They are no longer as aggressive as before),” he told reporters yesterday. “But I appreciate yung kanilang major accomplishments.”
Barandog was sent to PRO Cagayan Valley; Burlat, PRO Mimaropa; Corpuz, PRO Bicol; Sentinta, PRO Caraga; and Bontuyan, PRO Cordillera.
Bribe
One of the transferred non-commissioned officers, PO3 Christoper Cui Sanchez of Mabolo Police Station, was also relieved recently over allegations that he asked for a bribe from a suspected drug pusher last week.
He was thrown to PRO Cordillera.
Senior Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas, PRO 7 deputy director for operations, said they have received derogatory reports against Sanchez.
The other five officers who were with Sanchez, the team leader, were also relieved. They are PO3 Douglas dela Peña, PO3 Elvic Gabito, PO1 Victor Aguilar, PO1 Ronnie Tumaquin and a certain PO3 Reales.
The team searched the house of a 51-year-old suspected drug pusher last Thursday, but they failed to show a search warrant.
“It seems they are challenging the organization,” said Lawas.
Some 150 personnel from Regional Public Safety Batallion 7 will replace the personnel who were relieved.
The rest of the non-commissioned officers who were transferred to other regions are the following: SPO3 Michael Rivera Ernie, SPO2 Raymundo Roda Supatan, SPO1 Francis Alen Serohdos Villamor, SPO1 Mikie Baruc Espina, SPO1 Richard Cyril Pamaong, and SPO1 Roy Carlo Elizondo Veloso.
The lower-ranking officers are PO3 Alex Ando Buanghog Jr., PO3 Philip Soco Plasus, PO3 Raymund Estella Aballe, PO3 Junbert Bihag Acosta, PO3 Cesar Sagayap Pandong, PO3 Christopher Cui Sanchez, PO3 Frederick Fernandez Ybanez, PO3 Mark Tago Aninon, PO3 Albert Noval Luardo, PO3 Ruben Requinto Quita, PO3 Bernard Aton Yiro, PO3 Marvin Malinao Sanson, PO3 Erwin Amarellento Piquero, PO3 Julius Blanco Aninon, PO2 Julius Campana Codilla, PO1 Michael Ruaya Maucesa, and PO1 Nelson Ceniza Nodalo.
Some of them were assigned to Caraga, Cordillera Administrative Region, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Soccsksargen, Cagayan Valley, Mimaropa, Bicol, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Northern Mindanao.
