TO commemorate its 10 years of existence in Cebu, Marco Polo Plaza has embarked on not one, but several happenings called Timeless at 10.
One was White Night at the Blu Bar and Grill, held atop the hotel’s 22nd floor, 1,000 feet above sea level, with a sweeping view of the city by night!
For this exclusive media affair, guests were requested to don smart casual wear with a touch of white. In this congenial ambience, music was conducive to heady cocktails and great canapes. Highlight of the evening was a trivia about the millennium, when the hotel was “born.”
Happy first decade, Marco Polo!
Another was a spectacular Opera Gala dinner called Silken Voices, Silken Roads, an odyssey tracing voyager Marco Polo’s sojourn from west to east. The presentation was interwoven in opera, cuisine and couture.
Marco Polo-Ortigas (Manila) was marking its second anniversary, and Cebu, its 10th. That evening, there was a joint celebration at the Grand Ballroom of Marco Polo-Ortigas.
Featured at the opera gala were tenor Francisco Aseniero and soprano Gerphil Flores with the Philippine Opera Company who performed classic and familiar pieces. An instant attraction were the fashion collections of Renee Salud and Ann Ong.
And we give kudos to executive chef Lluis Pesarrodona, for Passages, the incredible journeys of Marco Polo on a plate!
To conclude a memorable 24-hour sojourn to Manila, we’d like to make special mention of Marco Polo-Ortigas top echelon, general manager Frank Reichenbach and director for marketing and communications, the vivacious Judith Los Baños, who not only treated our Cebu group like royalty, but also facilitated touching base with old Manila media friends.
More anniversaries, Marco Polo!
