Bizman shot dead in Davao

A BUSINESSMAN was shot dead by still unidentified gunmen at Purok San Antonio in Buhangin District in Davao City, Monday evening.

The victim was identified as Joel Magdipipi Maybano, 37, owner of Jojo 77 Barbershop and a resident of Lower Cabantian in Davao City.

Initial investigation conducted by Senior Police Officer 4 (SPO4) Samuel Gilay of Buhangin police showed the incident took place at Purok San Antonio around 9:30 p.m.

Gilay said the victim was about to go home from his shop when two unidentified armed men shot him several times. The victim succumbed to two gunshot wounds in his head and arm.

According to the brother-in-law of the victim, identified as Junrey Gomez Broca, he was standing outside the shop when he heard three gunshots and saw a body on the ground.

Broca said he was informed by a woman who passed by the shop that two men, one was wearing a helmet while the other was wearing a white t-shirt, were seen onboard a motorcycle fleeing from the crime scene.

Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered two empty shells and one deformed slug believed to be from caliber .45 pistol. The recovered evidence were submitted to the Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination.

Authorities are conducting follow-up investigation to identify and locate the perpetrators, and determine the motive of the incident. (Karrah Cathrina Flores/UIC Intern)
