FIFTH District Board Member Alain Gatuslao defended Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., saying the governor has been dealing with everyone, including barangay officials, fairly.
Gatuslao said that Marañon would also welcome to the Capitol even those who are perceived as opposition.
The board member’s statement came after barangay officials who are allied with the Love Negros Party said that they are neglected in the present administration that's why they are pushing Love Negros to field a gubernatorial candidate against Marañon in 2016.
“I am personally a witness of how the governor treats everyone fairly at the Capitol. He would only ask about their projects that could be assisted by the province like the case of La Castellana. Vice Mayor Felix Feria asked for projects from Governor Marañon right after the 2013 elections," Gatuslao said.
Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, a leader of Love Negros, said he is glad that the executive branch clarified the issue.
“It gave us an idea on how to address the situation. I have already instructed my staff to contact the barangay leaders who would like to see the governor because my office will help them set the appointment,” he said.
