Tipster on escapee to get P30,000 reward

THE Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) is offering P30,000 to whoever can tip them on the whereabouts of the drug suspect who managed to escape last Monday.

Romeo Manansala, CPDRC jail warden, said the inmates’ council, together with Jail Consultant Marco Toral, made a potential breakthrough by collecting cash contributions to complete the reward for the capture of Arnel Mait.

Nagtampo-tampo mi diri aron among mahatag sa kung kinsa man gali ang makatudlo sa iyang (we contribute so we can reward anyone who can point to his) whereabouts,” Manansala said.

Manansala said responding police officers already checked possible hide-outs of Mait, but failed to locate him.

He said they even called on the suspect’s wife to convince her husband to surrender once he (Arnel) decides to contact her.

Basin ma-pressure to siya sa reward so mu-surrender ra to,” Manansala said.

Mait is facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 of Section 5 or the sale, trading, administration, dispensation, delivery, distribution and transportation of dangerous drugs and/or controlled precursors and essential chemicals; and Section 11, possession of dangerous drugs.

The escapee’s case is still ongoing.

However, life imprisonment could be imposed on him if he is found guilty of drug pushing.

Toral yesterday went to Argao for Mait’s possible surrender.

Toral brought with him the P30,000 reward money together with Mait’s wife and two children.

Naa mi karon sa Argao nagpaabot niya (We’re now in Argao waiting for him),” Toral said during a phone interview.

They gave the suspect until 4:30 p.m. to surrender.

However, Mait did not show up. Apple Grace C. Danuco, USJ-R Intern
