Central Visayas receives 147 cop bikes for difficult roads

THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas received 106 motorcycles from Camp Crame on Wednesday and these vehicles will be distributed to different units.

Chief Supt. Noli Taliño, the PRO director, said the vehicles can be used in areas that have difficult roads.

The Philippine National Police has allocated 147 motorcycles for PRO and the remaining vehicles will arrive in the coming days.

The 21 Mahindra patrol vehicles were already distributed last week.

Three Mahindras were given to Cebu City Police Office; two patrols went to Lapu-Lapu City Police Office; and two vehicles were received by Mandaue City Police Office.

The offices of the regional director, deputy regional director for administration, deputy regional director for operations, and Cebu Provincial Police Office also received patrol cars.

Eight national support units also received the Mahindra patrol cars. Some of the recipient offices are Regional Crime Laboratory Office, Regional Internal Affairs Service, Regional Intelligence Unit, Regional Special Training Unit, and Regional Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit.

Meanwhile, the Regional Special Operations Group has a new chief.

Supt. Joel Quintero of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group replaced Supt. George Ylanan, who was transferred to PRO 10 (Zamboanga Peninsula). Quintero is also the concurrent deputy chief of Regional Intelligence Division.

Taliño said the Rsog and Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group are now fully operational, two weeks after the units’ 67 operatives were relieved.
