‘Energreen’s license still pending with ERC’

AN OFFICIAL of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has confirmed that the license of Energreen Power Development Management Inc. for the development of the 18.9-megawatt diesel power plant in Bago City, Negros Occidental is still pending at their office.

Atty. Jose Ybañez Bontuyan, head of ERC Visayas Field Office, said during the Energy Summit held in Iloilo on Friday that Energreen still has to secure the certificate of compliance.

Energreen, through its project company Central Negros Power Reliability Inc., is operating the P850-million diesel power facility which supplies power to the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco).

Utilities Consumers Alliance of Negros (Ucan) had earlier told Ceneco to rescind its contract with the Energreen for its failure and incapacity to deliver the 18.9MW of power supply.

Ceneco general manager Sulpicio Lagarde, said in a phone interview on Friday that Energreen has been supplying power to Ceneco since June 26.

They supply 4.6MW to 12.8 MW depending on the demand, he said.

Lagarde said that Energreen cannot supply yet the full 18.9MW because one of their units is not yet operating.

He added that Energreen has presented to Ceneco its certificate of compliance so ERC could be referring to the one unit of Energreen that is not yet operational.
