1,158 illegal drug users surrender in Angeles City

ANGELES CITY - More than 1,000 users of illegal drugs and substances have surrendered to the Angeles City Police Office, signaling the start of an intensive drive of Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan and the city government against illegal drugs and criminality.

"In compliance with the directives of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, we have intensified our offensive against the sale and use of illegal drugs. So far, 1,158 users have surrendered and all are properly documented," Pamintuan said.

"More users will surrender in the coming days. In fact, the official report from City Police Director Sidney Villaflor indicated that hundreds more are being documented," Pamintuan added.

As a result of the intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign in Angeles City, Villaflor met with the PNP Validating Team and was informed that the city is one of the finalists in the search for National Best City Police Office.

"Sa regional level ay panalo na tayo. We are the best police office in Region 3," Villaflor said.

The formal surrender of the users is set anytime this weekend or next week. (AC-CIO)
