Real life and its fruits

A YOUNG and budding writer, Amy Zhang never expected that she would be doing book tours, meeting fans, let alone publishing her books for the world to read. Writing was her escape, a form of relief from tension in her life. But everything changed when she decided to tap an agent for her stories. From then on, Amy’s career was cemented to become one of great success.

Born in China and raised in Wisconsin, Amy is now an acclaimed author, having written her first book Falling into Place, a book that was well received and garnered many of her long time fans.

Her latest novel, This is Where the World Ends is about best friends Janie and Micah, on a collision course reality, one that is absolutely heart-wrenching. In this novel, Amy uses a nonlinear writing style and dual narrators, a refreshing style of writing. It is all about an examination of grief and life.

When asked about her inspiration for writing the novel, Amy answered, “I get my inspiration from day to day life. You know, real situations and things that can happen in real life.”

And though writing is something that Amy will definitely stick to, she is willing to go into publishing and is interested in the marketing aspect of things. “I can definitely see myself doing just that—publishing and marketing.”

Currently, Amy is working on her third novel, which she talked about at her first book signing event in Cebu held last July 2, much to the delight of the fans. The book signing event was held at the Northwing Atrium of SM City Cebu, presented by National Book Store.
