Iloilo City bid and awards committee to elect new chair

THE City Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) is set to convene on Thursday, August 4 to elect its new chairman.

The BAC was not functioning for a month since June 30, 2016 with the new mandate for the city mayor.

City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog is reported to appoint City Engineer Roberto Divinagracia as chairman and General Services Office (GSO) Chief Joren Sartorio as vice-chairperson.

Sartorio said he is determined to reject the nomination since he is already suffering from a heavy workload.

Aside from being the city engineer that implements and overseas city infrastructure projects, Divinagracia is also the City building official who issues occupancy permit to owners of buildings after complying with building requirements.

The other members of the old BAC are the City Legal Officer, City Administrator, Chief of the GSO, City Budget Officer and the City Engineer.

As city government department heads, Sartorio, Budget Chief Ninda Atinado and Divinagracia are covered by rules of the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

The appointments of the City Administrator and City Legal Officer are co-terminus with the city mayor that ended on June 30, 2016.
